After a strong start to the week, the crypto market experienced a mild pullback, with Bitcoin (BTC) slipping 1.17% to $108,330.91, and Ethereum (ETH) down 0.97% to $2,536.40. Despite the price dip, the overall sentiment remains positive, with the Fear & Greed Index holding at 68 (Greed). Futures liquidations reached $117.35 million, largely driven by long positions being unwound after yesterday’s rally. BTC and ETH long/short ratios stayed nearly even, pointing to a balanced but slightly cautious trader stance.
Top gainers in the altcoin space included HSQ/USDT, which exploded +3,505.70% on speculative momentum, followed by ORN/USDT with a +24.70% gain, and P600/USDT up +12.33%, signaling renewed appetite for high-risk tokens despite broader market consolidation.
Among macro developments, Japan lost its spot as the world’s largest creditor nation for the first time in 34 years, a symbolic shift that may influence global capital flows. On the security front, Sui officials committed an additional $10 million to strengthen ecosystem defenses through audits and vulnerability bounties. Meanwhile, Cetus released a full postmortem on its $230M theft, vowing to enhance LP compensation models and audit standards going forward.
Elsewhere, Move Industries Foundation opened token claiming for MOVE, and Dubai’s Land Department announced Prypco Mint, a new real estate tokenization platform built on the XRP Ledger, underscoring the expanding adoption of RWA infrastructure across regions. In response to speculation, Circle denied rumors of acquisition talks with Coinbase or Ripple.
Venture activity remained active, with Yzi Labs revealing an investment in Avalon Labs to back a new phase of Bitcoin-native finance tools. On the geopolitical side, the fourth round of Japan–U.S. tariff negotiations is set for May 30, potentially influencing regional policy and trade sentiment.
